We invite you to do so no later than January 1st of the year in which you wish to enter law school. Advance ruling applicants must do so in the fall. Students entering the three- and four-year programs have the opportunity to begin their legal education one semester earlier by taking a first-year course in the summer semester of 2020. Three-year-olds will take offenses and four-year-old students will take criminal law. We believe this option will ease the transition to law school and allow for more curricular flexibility in your 2L, 3L, and for extended JD students, 4L years, as you have already completed 3 additional credits required to complete your JD program. Reputable letter If you attended another law school, even for a single day, and whether you are applying as a transfer student or not, you must file a reputable letter from that other law school. Brooklyn Law School requires that your foreign transcripts be submitted through the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
If you graduated from a post-secondary school outside of the United States (including its territories) or Canada, you must use this service to evaluate your foreign transcripts. The service is included in the credential assembly service registration fee. Brooklyn Law School was one of the first law schools to allow its graduates to pursue careers in the public interest by helping to cope with the burden of their student debt. The Brooklyn Law School Loan Repayment Assistance Program, developed in 1990, has provided more than $2.4 million in credit forgiveness to support graduates who choose to work in public interest organizations. The only exception to this requirement is if you completed your studies abroad as part of a study abroad, consortium or exchange program sponsored by a U.S. or Canadian institution, and the work is clearly marked as such on the transcript of the home campus. The Credential Assembly Service receives student and graduate school transcripts from college registrars at the applicant`s request and converts the undergraduate transcripts into a standardized academic summary reported to Brooklyn Law School. It is the applicant`s responsibility to ensure that a transcript is sent to the Credential Assembly Service of each college or university visited. The Credential Assembly Service report also contains biographical information. Copies of all transcripts for students, graduates, and law/professional schools; LSAT scores and writing sample copies; and copies of letters of recommendation processed by LSAC. Alternatively, these letters may be submitted by the applicant, or they may be forwarded directly to our admissions office separately from the people who are to write the letters. In such cases, applicants must use the Brooklyn Law School Recommendation Form, unless these letters are sent by the undergraduate school`s Accreditation Services Office and accompanied by a waiver form.
Do not submit duplicate letters. If you graduated and haven`t been to school for several years or more, you can ask an employer or other person who knows your intellectual abilities to provide one of these letters. Please note, however, that we are primarily interested in an evaluator`s assessment of your potential for academic success at law school. In such cases, Brooklyn Law School expects applicants to realize how valuable such admissions committee references are in assessing the intellectual contribution a candidate will make in class. We therefore expect someone in this situation to use good judgment in determining who is best qualified to write these required letters. While an additional letter of recommendation may be submitted, please only do so if the additional recommendation provides a different insight or perspective of your academic skills. Although transfer applicants must submit letters of recommendation, it is recommended, but not mandatory, that these letters be written by the Faculty of Law. Invited students do not have to submit letters of recommendation. Graduates can audit the courses for free if there is a large conference. You can view current and upcoming courses in the school`s online program: At the time you apply for admission to the Bar, a copy of your application for admission to law school and additional documents will be sent to the State Committee for Character and Physical Condition. You will be held responsible for any discrepancies and secrecy.
Applicants are advised to consult with an official of the Bar Association if necessary to determine whether previous conduct could prevent them from being admitted to that jurisdiction after graduating from law school. In new York State (www.nybarexam.org), such applications can only be made after you have been admitted to a law school. The law school will not approve the admission of non-U.S. citizens. Citizens who are unable to prove their financial ability to cover the costs of one year of law school, including tuition and fees, books and living expenses.
Please refer to our current calculation of planned spending for the first year. Brooklyn Law School offers a selection of flexible enrollment options to suit the needs of students. We offer standard 3-year JD studies and 4-year extended (part-time) JD studies. The application process for both programs is the same. If an applicant wishes to submit a GRE score, the score must be valid and received by the deadline of the program for which they are applying. The Admission Committee has no preference between the LSAT or the GRE and accepts both test results. In the range of 3 to 4 years, students choose the duration to complete their 85-credit program of study.
We also offer additional flexibility to finish a semester earlier, provided students complete the required courses or extend them by one semester if they need more time. The Admissions Committee does not review an application until it is complete. An application is considered complete when all required documents, including the applicant`s LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report and two faculty assessments, have been received and processed by the law school`s admissions office. Admitted students who wish to retain a place in the next entrance class at Brooklyn Law School must pay a deposit of $600. The tuition fee deposit, as well as the previously paid seat deposit and registration fee for the first semester, will be credited to the tuition fee if the admitted student registers. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on an ongoing basis starting in the fall. The Admissions Office continues to review applications as soon as they are complete and until the class is complete or until classes begin in August. All JD applicants who submit must submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation or faculty evaluation. These must be submitted by faculty members who can provide detailed feedback on your academic skills.
